Region: Mt Veeder, Napa Valley Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot First Glance: Rich, Smooth, Blackcurrant, Dried Herbs Acclaim: 96pts
The Wine: Grown under the shadow of Mt. Veeder's 2400' peak, Mt. Brave's Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful example of high-elevation winemaking. This red wine has an incredible density of fruit, profound tannin structure, and a wonderful finish. Winemaker Chris Carpenter is a master of managing mountain tannins and producing wines that are approachable in their youth and spectacular with a bit of cellaring. This red wine showcases aromas of seamless black and blue fruits, with secondary notes of dark chocolate and licorice. Power and opulence in harmony with a finessed texture for a long, balanced finish. Pair with grilled ribeye, rack of lamb and osso bucco.
The Review: The Wine Advocate - 96pts "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder gives up notions of crème de cassis, violets, baker's chocolate, licorice and yeast extract with a touch of beef drippings. Full-bodied, concentrated and wonderfully expressive, the palate gives lovely ripe tannins and great freshness, finishing long and earthy."
