Region: Yarra Valley Grapes: 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon and 10% Muscadelle First Glance: Exotic, Layered, Icon-Wine, Age-worthy Acclaim: 98pts
The Wine: The 2021 Triolet is defined by its fineness and delicacy. It is one of the most clean and pure expressions of this unique blend that we have made for quite some time. The nose shows citrus, nashi pear, guava and a hint of passionfruit. The palate is light and fresh whilst showing an impressive persistence of flavour. The phenolics in this wine are dialed back slightly compared with other vintages, resulting in a seamless flow through the palate rather than overt texture and grip. Overall, it's a wine defined by its intrinsic complexity and subtlety. It is however a wine crying out for time in the cellar and will handsomely reward those with patience!
The Review: Ned Goodwin MW, James Suckling - 98pts "Triolet is a gently mid-weighted wine of refined detail and exquisite restraint, so much so that those who seek obvious fruit fail to understand it. It is a wine that ages with prowess, too. Indeed, the finest aged white I have experienced across the New World was older Triolet. Lanolin, lemon drop, quince and nettle push long across a meld of effusive energy and extract. The oak, subtly compressing the fray into a bone of tension. Excellent finish. Drinking this is an emotional experience, pushing the exhilaration meter up a notch. Best after 2027."
