The Wine:
Kate McIntyre is the queen of Mornington, consistently turning out the most critically acclaimed wines from this famous area near Melbourne. The Estate Pinot Gris is full bodied and dry. Fruit is sourced from the Garden and Osborn Vineyards. The wine is fermented in old oak, using wild yeasts, and goes through a full, natural malolactic fermentation in barrel.
It shows yellow pear, quince and spicy notes on the nose and lovely weight and texture on the palate. To show its staying power Kate has released a little of the 2013 vintage on its 10th anniversary. It's exquisite, very harmonious and characterful, a joy to drink now.
