Region: Yarra Valley Grapes: Chardonnay First Glance: Concentrated, Nutty, Fresh, Detailed Acclaim: 96pts
The Wine: The fruit is picked early in the morning and whole bunch pressed to tank. It's left to settle over night in tank and then decanted into barrel. Only the vineyard dust is left at the bottom of the tank as we want to take all the solids. It's left in barrel until November, where it is assembled and bottled. It spends almost two years in bottle before it released.
The Review: Mike Bennie, The Wine Front - 96pts "Delicious, wonderful expression of chardonnay delivering quite a bit of concentration compared to other Syberia releases, richness of stone fruit, some sugared almond notes, cinnamon, faint honeycomb and alpine herb elements in palate and bouquet. Texture is glorious, silky then firms up in the distance to a fine, talc-like minerally pucker. Elegant, refined, showing detail of fruit, spice, mineral, well-judged oak seasoning. Done with aplomb. Stellar stuff."
