Region: Piemonte
Grapes: Nebbiolo
First Glance: Fine Boned, Elegant, Red Fruits, Spice
The Wine:
A blend of Perno on the Santo Stefano hill in the village of Monforte d'Alba, plus various vineyards in Castiglione Falletto. Traditional-style, floating cap fermentation of selected estate-grown grapes for 15/20 days in cement. Aged in Slovenian oak barrels for 14 months.
Light ruby red with a touch of orange. The nose is fine and earthy, yet wonderfully delicate. Freshly turned earth, forest floor, a touch of tar. The fruit is delicate, almost floating and rather elegant and red fruity with juicy, ripe strawberries. In the mouth the tannins are ultra fine. Mmmm! Here too we have delicate strawberries and red currants as well as playful red flowers with a wonderfully fresh acid balance and a minerally salty finish.
