The Wine:
Château Magnan la Gaffelière enjoys an attentive approach in the vineyard and in the cellar. The terroir of Magnan la Gaffelière combines veins of clay with sandier foothill parcels, producing a wine that is naturally delicate and generous. Mr Hubert de Bouard de Laforest consulted for the Château until its aquisition by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in September 2017. Today, Magnan la Gaffelière is managed directly by Jean-Pïerre Moueix’s technical teams. The wine spends 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new).
The bouquet blossoms with plush ripe black cherry, plum and cassis, hints of violet, liquorice, mocha and espresso. The palate is fruit-forward with plum, blackberry and subtle notes of cassis, showing well-balanced freshness and tension with fine tannin structure. Enjoy with eye fillet, slow-cooked roasts, tomato-based pasta and hard cheeses. Drink now or up until 2028.
