Grapes: Grenache, Rolle, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvèdre
First Glance: Stylish and elegant rose
Acclaim: 92 Points
Chateau d’Esclans’ whispering Angel is now officially the most sold rose in the US market, and has revitalized a category that has not always been dominated by quality players. Bottles of all size formats are being poured from London’s poshest Knightsbridge establishments, to luxury yatchs off Ibiza.
In other words, if you aren’t drinking Whispering Angel on the deck of your boat, you might as well not drink anything, let alone own a boat!
So what of the wine itself? A classic Provence blend from high quality fruit, made in the typical Provence salmon pink, softly textured and thirst-quenching style. Creamy red-berry fruit, softly plush on the palate and thoroughly refreshing. Dig in!
The Review:
92 Points, James Suckling
Pale rose color with pretty aromas of lavender, rosehip, strawberries, cherries and cloves. It’s medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a supple, creamy palate. Perfumed and elegant. Drink now.
