Monteleone is a small family business consisting of Giulia Monteleone, her partner Benedetto Alessandro and her father Enrico. Started in 2017, the young estate draws on the very special volcanic terroir found on the slopes of Mt Etna, Sicily, to make wines of structure and concentration.
The Rumex is a new addition to the young estate's portfolio, and stems from a single Contrada with old pre-phylloxera vines, giving an immensely concentrated wine.

The Rumex is bottled with a distinctively different and contemporary feeling floral label, signifying a more modern style of Etna red. The fruit is ripe and rich, with savoury hints throughout. A significant influence of toasted oak adds alluring spice and sweetness to the profile. The wine is true to its origins by maintaining its impressive structure of prolific tannin and medium acidity.
