Region: Margaret River
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot
First Glance: Black Fruits, Cigar Box, Violets, Spice
The Wine:
Beautifully expressive on the nose, it combines sea spray, violet, mulberry, and toasty oak notes.
The palate is medium bodied and composed, showing red and blue fruits accented by floral and coastal notes. There’s a core of natural acidity providing freshness and length, with balanced tannic grip to finish.
Reserved now, this is a wine built with quiet confidence, and will reward extended cellaring.
The Review:
Ray Jordan - 95pts
"This blend of largely cabernet with smaller contributions from merlot, malbec and petit verdot is sourced from the Woodlands Brook Vineyard and the Wilyabrup Valley. It was introduced a few years ago and has steadily moved up in completeness and complexity. This is the best yet. It has power and poise with deep fruit intensity edged with a minerally chalky tannins and a trace of graphite. This is a serious statement of a Margaret River red blend."
