The Wine:
Hand-picked fruit, whole bunch pressed, the free run only was drained and fermented in French oak barrels - 19% new, majority in larger 500L puncheons. 100% wild ferment, left on lees in barrel for partial malolactic fermentation while stirring regularly to build texture.
Richly scented aromas of almond blossom, white florals, frangipani and peach, exotic. The palate delivers plenty of primary fruit weight and drive, generous with savoury lees/sulphide flavour. Acidity a hallmark this year, cooling and long with salivating qualities. 2022 has delivered the depth, drive and finesse in spades!
The Review:
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front - 95pts
"Ginger and cinnamon, white flower, white peach, grapefruit, a subtle amount of struck match. Fine bones, lovely chalky texture, spiced apple and a pleasant amount of nutty oxidative/saline stuff, with a bright and zesty finish of cool length and persistence. Needs another year to settle into its groove, but a tight and bright style offering plenty of energy."
