Acclaim: 94 points

Lamoresca is a small producer in the southern province of Catania, where the hot Mediterranean climate is tempered by 450 meters altitude. Here, Fillipo Rizzo works with indigenous varieties, adhering to minimal-intervention practises in both vineyard and cellar.

Filippo's Rosso is a classic Sicilian blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, well known for its role in the "Cerasuolo di Vittoria" appellation. While not a Cerasuolo, still the interplay between the richer and darker flavours of Nero d'Avola and the light and fragrant Frappato, creates a balanced, crunchy, mid-weight blend with tons of moreish cherry fruit and herbal lift.
The grapes were fermented on the skins for a month, then aged in old wooden casks for one year, before bottling without filtration.

The Review:
94 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
Cherry, raspberry, spice and dried herb rub, a little peat and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, freeze dried berries, stony tannin, fresh and flavoursome, with loads of scrub herb perfume and spice. So interesting and great to drink. A top vintage for Lamoresca.
