Region: Mosel
Grapes: Riesling
First Glance: Full and Round, Nutty, Floral

The Wine:
Blackcurrant, red apple, and talcy, slatey minerals on the nose. Really fine and delicate. The palate is ripe and weighty with fine acid washing through the fruit. Herbal notes as well - almost Thai basil/perilla.
The Review:
Jean Fisch and David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines - 93+pts
“The 2021er Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Spätlese has a beautifully complex and appealing nose of almond cream, candied grapefruit, orange zest, thyme, fine spices, jasmine, and acacia. The wine coats the palate with riper fruits and proves superbly creamy and intense. There is energy and finesse coming through in the very long and pure finish. This will need a couple of years to integrate its elements before it truly delivers and it even has some upside potential. 2031-2046”
