En Remilly is another of the Lamy benchmarks. Situated above the Côte de Beaune’s Grand Cru vineyards, it produces one of Lamy’s finest and most sought-after wines. Olivier has two hectares in this vineyard (planted in 1989) across two distinct parcels. One of these parcels is quite near his Clos de la Chatenière vines and is a warmer terroir on a loosely knit mix of clay and limestone. The second is a far rockier site, on almost pure limestone, directly adjacent to the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. This latter parcel brings a cutting tension to the former’s fleshy, layered fruit. It’s a site that produces Lamy’s ripest wine, yet also the wine with the highest acidity! The 2023 is a great example—rich, layered, yet with a wonderfully saline, mineral, tonic finish. Epic.

“The 2023 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes from a slightly warmer mesoclimate as it is protected from the wind. This has a superb bouquet with much more tension and mineralité compared to the Chez Edouard. Plenty of energy here. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, crisp and taut, bright towards the saline finish with a tingle of spice on the aftertaste. Lovely.” 93 points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Lots of volume – some florals. In the mouth, a wine of concentration that melts beautifully over the palate. Stony, large-scale finishing flavour, with a small textural cushion. Holding, holding… Oh – and it’s completely delicious…” Bill Nanson, The Burgundy Report
