Domaine Marechal is a moderately sized producer based in Bligny les Beaune, in the the plain of Pommard, just south of Beaune. With a strong emphasis on vineyard work and a light hand in the cellar, these are wines of elegance and transparency. Yields are kept low, and no chemical fertilisers are used in the vines.

The Savigny-les-Beaune is made up of three plots around the appellation. As the name suggests ("Vielle Vignes" meaning "Old Vines") all from mature vine material, giving increased concentration and depth. Grapes are totally destemmed, only natural yeasts are used for fermentation, and the percentage of new oak is kept low, to not interfere too much with the expression of fruit.

Tasing note:
"The mouthfeel here is always a delight - racy, light, pure, and saline with dark cherry fruit – always a very sensual wine (...) A wonderful young Burgundy with real depth and persistence in the mouth. The old vines no doubt contributing to give the wine a good sappy richness and great silky length. Excellent and will make a magic bottle in 6-7 years if you can keep hands off!"
