The Review:
Allan Meadows, Burghound
"Slightly more elegant aromas include those of red currant, cherry and softer earth influence. There is slightly better size, weight and mid-palate density to the medium weight flavours that possess a caressing mouth feel while delivering solid depth and persistence on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This is quite good for its level and worth a look."

The Wine:
The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge is produced from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the lieu-dit Les Petits Chaliots, located immediately south of Volnay at the base of the Côte de Beaune escarpment. The parcel covers approximately 0.18 hectares and is planted to vines averaging 50 years of age. The vineyard sits on clay-limestone soils, typical of the lower slopes where a greater proportion of clay overlies fractured limestone bedrock. These soils provide greater water retention than the thin limestone soils found higher on the slope while maintaining sufficient drainage to regulate vine vigor. The combination produces Pinot Noir with balanced ripeness while retaining the freshness characteristic of Burgundy's limestone-derived terroirs. All fruit is harvested entirely by hand to preserve berry integrity before arriving at the winery.
