The Wine:
The single vineyard Riesling offering, from the Ten Miles East site just outside of Ashton at the base of the Adelaide Hills. This site favours riper styles of Riesling, recieving the same harsh heat during the day as Adelaide would, however cooling right down in the evening due to its elevation.
This wine has been produced in a 'dry-spatlese' style, meaning the grapes were left to ripen as if they were to be produced like a spatlese, but then the wine is fermented to almost dry, with no residual sugar remaining. The resulting wine has a lot more developed flavours than your average Riesling, leaning into a richer fruit spectrum featuring orange rind, pineapple and baked apple, still with rails of tight chalky phenolics and salivating acidity driving home a long lingering finish. It will stand up to a number of dishes, namely slow cooked poultry and lightly sweet-spicy asian dishes.
