In 1879, Lars Olsson Smith introduced Absolut Rent Brännvin, a vodka made using a 'continuous distillation' method in 1879. Absolut was reborn using the same recipe in 1979 in New York, memorably packaged in a bottle modelled on a medicine bottle found in a Swedish antique store. Four decades on it still retains a chic, cool status. Made from winter wheat grown beneath snows, and water drawn from an impressively deep well in Åhus, Sweden.
