Region: Bourgogne, France
Grape: Pinot Noir
First Glance: High-toned and floral
Domaine Marechal is a moderately sized producer based in Bligny les Beaune, in the the plain of Pommard, just south of Beaune. With a strong emphasis on vineyard work and a light hand in the cellar, these are wines of elegance and transparency. Yields are kept low, and no chemical fertilisers are used in the vines.
From a high slope facing Monthelie this is always a superbly high-toned wine with great focus and drive. Grapes are totally destemmed, and only natural yeasts are used for fermentation.
Tasing note:
"Gorgeous cherry stone and crushed strawberry with a floral lift and deep mineral depth. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very soil-driven in
personality, with a sappy core of stunning fruit, ripe, seamless tannins and great focus and grip on the very long, very elegant and vibrant finish. Top"
