Since 1865 Glenfarclas has been owned and managed by just one family, the Grants of Glenfarclas. On the 8th of June 1865 John Grant acquired the tenancy for the Rechlerich Farm and as part of the transaction purchased the Glenfarclas Distillery for £511.19s.0d. To this day Glenfarclas is one of only a few distilleries in Scotland to remain family owned and managed. Now in the hands of the fifth generation of the family, the Grants remain committed to the vision of creating the best quality Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, in the traditional Speyside style.
The 12 year undergoes 100% Oloroso sherry cask maturation.
An excellent introduction to the distillery style - for those who enjoy a sherried whisky. To be consumed neat or with a drop of water. A great accompaniment to smoked salmon or Iberico ham.
TASTING NOTE
Nose: Intense, full of aromas - Sherried fruit, tropical fruit, nutmeg and almonds with slight citrus notes at the end.
Flavour: Full bodied and rounded, develops slowly into fruity and spicy flavours.
Finish: Long-lasting and smooth with a chocolate feel in the back palate.
