Region: Macedon Ranges
Grapes: Pinot Noir
First Glance: Brooding, Fine, Long

The Wine:
Hailing from the Macedon Edge Vineyard, the 2021 GED Pinot comes from 26 year old vines at 500m of elevation. The fruit was hand picked, 100% destemmed for a cold soak for 4 days. Fermentation was wild, and the wine spent 18 days on skins. Maturation took place for 12 months in 50% new and 50% used French oak.

Wild and pungent on the nose, there is a gamey darkness to this wine, but of course beautiful fruit aromas of blood plums, raspberry and cherry lie underneath, along with some spice and cola. The palate is concentrated and brooding, almost bloody with a graphite mineral aspect. Red fruits dominate and the tannins are lacy and slinky. Acid is fresh and seamless and drives the long finish.
