Andrew 'Ox' Hardy is not just out of one of the most pedigreed and respected winemaking families in this country, he also has an enormous bag of experience to draw from when crafting these eponymous wines out of his personal SA wine project, based in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale.
Having spent half a life time making region-expressive wines throughout Southern Australia, most notably spending 14 years as head winemaker for Petaluma in Adelaide Hills, Andrew also had stints in California, Oregon and Bordeaux along the way.
The new Ox Hardy wines are centered around the flag ship Upper Tintara vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. The range features a number of varieties from the site, and also a neat cooler expression Adelaide Hills Chardonnay - as an homage to a region that has been so central to Andrew's career.

From three selected block of vines in McLaren Vale, within the Blewitt Springs and McLaren Flat sub-regions. Made with a small amount of whole berry fermentation to add to that sense of fresher, brighter fruit. after 12 days on skins, the wine is transferred to old French oak where it spent 6 months.

A real charmer with a lightness of touch that is very much in line with current Grenache trends in the Vale, and something that we can vey much get behind!

The Review:
92 Pts, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

"Excellent grenache. It has weight but it also feels crunchy, not to mention spicy. I love grenache with a bit of crackle to it. Raspberries, sand, roasted spices and dry, brittle leaves. Excellent tannin, firm and grapey. What this grenache is is serious and smashable, at once."
