The Wine:
Traditionally cropped from an ideally positioned 3.2 hectares within the Serralunga postcode, today this delicious Dolcetto also includes fruit from Massolino’s Cascina I Maschi vineyard in Monforte d’Alba.

From a cooler, later harvest, it’s a touch darker in fruit profile than the 2020, and just as delicious. Expect blue fruits, baking spices and a pretty, red floral lift on the nose. It’s soft with bright freshness and vibrant energy dancing around supple fruit, crunchy structure, a seductive mouthfeel and a beautiful anise-tinged finish. Massolino only uses its finest Dolcetto fruit for this bottling; the remainder is sold in bulk. No wonder it is a serious bargain.

The Review:
Antonio Galloni, Vinous - 89pts
The 2021 Dolcetto d'Alba is a powerful, deep wine. Strong mineral and savory accents give this structured, layered Dolcetto a good bit of character. This is far from an easygoing wine. Readers will find a Dolcetto with tons of nuance.
