Region: Tasmania
Grape: Riesling
First Glance: assertive, juicy, bright

Husband and wife team, Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley, have each been making wine domestically and abroad for over 40 years collectively. While both are engaged as winemakers at Babo and Pooley Wines, respectively, this is their joint venture 'side-hustle' as they like to say. The fruit is sourced from around the Coal River Valley, and the focus is on purity, transparency and sustainability.

The Riesling is fermented and raised in steel and neutral French oak puncheons. A bright, juicy and expressive rendition of cool-climate, south-Tasmanian fruit.

The Review:
94 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
(2021 vintage)
From the Pressing Matters vineyard. Aged in steel and oak.

Pretty florals, like chamomile maybe, lemon zest, spiced apples. It’s juicy, and savoury with it, nuts and dried apple, a grapefruit tang and sourness, but glossy too, perfume, mint and apple on a long and chalky finish. Texture, power, fragrance. A bolder expression of Riesling, with some quinine-like bitterness to close. Excellent.
