The Wine:
Volumes of ripe raspberries, black cherries and dark florals scented with baharat spice fill the nose. This beautifully ripened expression is gently framed in the briar wood and hazelnut of seasoned oak, freshened with thyme and sage. Primal and vital, the compelling deep fruit and gravelly tannin of old vine grenache is swathed in layers of silky texture from time on lees. A decadent pain au chocolate of seasoned oak is the patient reward of barrel age.
The Review:
Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front - 95pts
"Comes from some pretty old vineyards, one planted in 1920 and the other in 1960. Old vines really do seem to suit Grenache. Follows a fairly standard approach to making Grenache with a gentle, softly softly touch to coax the best from this delicious variety. Beautiful spicy rose petal aromas and a seamlessly structured palate with an intricate weave of grainy slightly gravelly tannins. An excellent wine.”
