Tyrrells Old Hut Shiraz 2018

| /

In the early hours of the morning on 3 February, when the fruit was at its coldest, the grapes were harvested by machine before fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was matured in older French-oak puncheons (500L) for 15 months. 13.5% Alc

“Good depth of purple/red colour. Aromas of dark fruits, dried spices, subtle earthy-graphite notes among its savoury overtones, the palate medium-bodied and soft-textured, very refined, focused and elegant with super-fine tannins and faultless line and length. Seamless. A delightful wine. (Vines planted in 2003 with cuttings from the 4 Acres vineyard which is beside it)” 95 POINTS - HUON HOOKE, THE REAL REVIEW Awards: 3 Sliver, 2 Bronze

Coffee bean and earth, touch of vanilla oak, boysenberry/blueberry. Fuller bodied style, got some grip in the tannin, a wee bit of warmth, but great flavour and expansion in the mouth, and a clove oil aftertaste. A bit of grunt here, and plenty to get your teeth into. It doesn’t have the finesse of some of the other wines, but it sure has character.
