1 x Syrahmi Garden Of Earthly Delights Riesling 2018
A riesling of great texture, personality and drinkability. There is a great volume of pot-pourri, citrus & slate in the bouquet, providing a pretty intro to each sip. The palate shows off a really fine, powdery-chalky feel that is in harmony with lemon pith and green apple. The fruit sweetness and powdery tannins drive the long finish.
1 x Syrahmi Garden Of Earthly Delights Pinot Noir 2017
Aromas of cool red and dark fruits, cherries, dried rose petals, turned earth and spice. Light and fresh on the palate with ripe red berry fruit flavours, earth and warm spice. It’s succulent, hemmed with fine tannins, tangy acidity and offers a feel of elegance.
1 x Syrahmi Demi Shiraz 2018
Winter and spring were atypically dry with a very mild summer, perfect for long slow dry aging of Shiraz grapes. I love this vintage as I always enjoy the long, slow and cooler vintages in Heathcote. They produce wines of great finesse and elegance. Very bright crimson and purple in colour. Intense perfume of lifted wild raspberries, black olives, soy and turned earth. Crushed granite, red and black cherries, graphite and gun smoke with energetic freshness and length, the palate shows the best of Heathcote with a light touch. Savoury dried herbs and spice, graphite and tapenade again, with very fine tannin coming from the 80% whole bunches during ferment, balanced red fruits leading though a long savoury finish. Concentrated but light on its feet.
1 x Syrahmi New Beginnings Shiraz 2016
Dark and deep brick red, a riot of perfume encompassing ripe wild blackberries, baked red earth and dry sage herb, smoked meats/charcuterie, bergamot tea and black olive create a sense of excitement. Complex, dense weighted palate with intense energy. Lifted perfumes of black olive tapenade, smoked meats with compounded black fruits add to the ultra fine savoury tannin from the 90% whole bunch used is a feature. Long, deep and complex with rich dark fruits, the ripeness of the vintage has still left the wine with freshness for a very long future ahead
1 x Syrahmi Grenache 2017
Colour can be deceptive, Pinot like. It’s all about the lifted perfume and sweet scents of wild raspberries and cherry. Luscious, unctuously textured fresh fruits, cherry ripe and baked red earth of classic Heathcote soil, think spent shotgun cartridge. Medium bodied with good glycerin mouth feel and fresh thyme. Soft velvety texture, very fine and long tannin (50% whole bunch) with sweet mid palate of dried red earth, raspberry and spice.
1 x Syrahmi Mourvedre 2017
This close-planted Mourvèdre vineyard (4545 vines per Hectare) on rich pre-Cambrian soil produced fruit of amazing complexity and length of flavour. Bright and light raspberry red in colour, the perfumed nose of ripe berry fruits, raspberries and layered with dried herbs, amaro and warm spice of garam masala. Savoury turned earth, spice, lifted whole bunch (50%) and a meaty small goods character. Medium bodied, lighter on its feet than most Mourvèdre’s. This wine is all about texture and fine velvet like fine tannins; palate is long, rolling and fresh.
