A single site, Germanic dry-style Riesling from the second highest altitude Riesling vineyard in Victoria: mature, unirrigated and close-planted vines on the Whitlands high plateau.
A sweetpea petal floral nose, enhanced with lime blossom and wet pebble notes; some sherberty orange stone fruit character. The palate initially spreads and then rapidly condense to an intensely fine clear acid line. Finishes toothsome and greenish, with crunchy minerality and great length.
"King Valley site and riesling that sees a complex picking decisions (and winemaking approach) to build the wine’s profile. Basically off dry, but you can’t taste that so much.
Scintillating acidity the major feature but the wine is a detailed, expressive riesling of spice, citrusy fruit character, strong, saline minerally charm. Steely, tightly wound, a rapier-thrust of crunch and zing tempered with that gentle, faint softness of sweeter fruit character. Wonderful expression here. So refreshing."
