Ravensworth Estate Sangiovese 2022

| /

Region: Murrumbateman, Canberra District
Grapes: Sangiovese
First Glance: Red Cherry, Tea Leaf, Dried Herbs, Fresh
Acclaim: 94pts

The Wine:
Processed as whole berries in 10hl oak cuves for fermentation. On skins for 6 months post-ferment, then pressed to large format foudre for second year of elevage.

A prized variety, being the first one Brian planted 25 odd years ago. Like all the estate range, a wine built to cellar.

The Review:
Mike Bennie, The Wine Front - 94pts
"Attractive pale garnet colour in the glass. Supple, sweet cherry set amongst bergamot tea (and tea tannin) with dried herbs, sour plum, licks of vanilla and a cool, faintly minty element. It’s lighter weighted than those words suggest, shy of medium weight, fine boned, structured and finishes long and with sweet spices. It’s not as chewy and firm as you’d expect, but the freshness and lift is lovely. Excellent, in a word."
