The Ravensworth riesling is now its own thing, more so in this release perhaps than ever. And great for it. No filtering, no additions, natural ferment, raised on lees too.No filtering, no additions, natural ferment, raised on lees in ceramic vessels for its pre-bottle life too.
This is firmly in the savoury and textural camp but loses nothing of the blistering, regional acidity. Instead we see pumice stone-like texture, an undercurrent of lightly salted cashew nuttiness, ripe citrus, mixed ‘minerals’ and light ginger notes. It’s succulent, deep in flavour but wildly fresh, incredibly complex, lifted and brilliant. A vivacious and outstanding Riesling here.
