Andrew 'Ox' Hardy is not just out of one of the most pedigreed and respected winemaking families in this country, he also has an enormous bag of experience to draw from when crafting these eponymous wines out of his personal SA wine project, based in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale.
Having spent half a life time making region-expressive wines throughout Southern Australia, most notably spending 14 years as head winemaker for Petaluma in Adelaide Hills, Andrew also had stints in California, Oregon and Bordeaux along the way.
The new Ox Hardy wines are centered around the flag ship Upper Tintara vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. The range features a number of varieties from the site, and also a neat cooler expression Adelaide Hills Chardonnay - as an homage to a region that has been so central to Andrew's career.

From grapes planted in 2011 at the Upper Tintara vineyard, the variety being well suited to the warmer Mediterranean-like climate of the McLaren Vale. Fruit was pressed into tank and fermented at cool temperatures to retain the brightness and purity of fruit flavours. At sugar dryness the yeast lees were stirred in tank weekly, increasing mouthfeel and helping balance the natural acid.

The Best Cellars View:
A fine and bright expression of the variety with plenty of delicate green apple, fresh lime and white blossom flavours, carried through the wine on wings of freshly squeezed lemon juice acidity. Poised and fresh.
