From the McGregor and Bruce Vineyards in Murrumbateman, planted 1995-1998. Some clay loam over Granite, with some Shale. Hand harvested in mid March, minimal sorting. Each vineyard parcel vinified separately with 40-50% whole bunch clusters. Aged for 10 months in French Oak, 25% new.
"Here’s a star to catch in your mason jar. Bloody good wines from nice-hair winemaker. In Canberra District.
Elegant, svelte and fine. Amazing perfume, so fragrant. A sluice of anise-tinged blueberry and blackberry fruit with pretty spice dimples and cruise control from fine, silty taninns. Succulent, puckering finish with crisp acidity and cool, herbal notes. This feels classy. It’s a bit turbo in concentration for Canberra District, but geez, it is excellent shiraz anyway."
