Region: Hilltops, NSW
Grapes: Shiraz (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Nebbiolo (20%)
First Glance: Savoury, Poised, Long
The Wine:
Grown by Gerard Hines in Maimuru NSW, planted on clay loam over granite and basalt. Hand picked and fermented separately, with whole bunches included on the Shiraz only. Moderate pigeage and remontage, with extended post ferment maceration for the Nebbiolo. 12 months maturation in neutral French oak and ceramic vessels.
Opulent and poised purple fruits over roasted thyme. Great sweet/savoury interplay, with beautiful cool climate freshness and a long, provocative finish.
