The Wine:

En Remilly is one of Lamy’s prestige terroirs, sitting above the Côte de Beaune’s Grand Cru vineyards and producing one of his finest and most sought-after wines. Lamy has two hectares in this vineyard (planted in 1989) across two distinct parcels that sit just above the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. One of these parcels is quite near to his Clos de la Chatenière vineyard and is a warmer terroir on a loosely knit mix of clay and limestone. The second is a far rockier site on almost pure limestone, directly adjacent to Chevalier. This latter parcel brings a cutting tension to the former’s fleshy, layered fruit. This wine is today a benchmark of white Burgundy and as such it is extremely fairly priced.

Tasting Note:

“Complex notes of pear, wheat toast, citrus oil, mandarin and wet stones introduce the 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly, a medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional wine that's layered and muscular, with excellent tension at the core and a long, mineral finish. This is a brilliant En Remilly in the making.” 92-94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

“The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a pixelated, mineral-driven bouquet that manages to effortlessly offset the warmth of the growing season. Shucked oyster shell and limestone aromas develop in the glass. The well-balanced palate delivers wonderful harmony and a fine bead of acidity. Almost caressing in texture, with supremely well integrated oak toward the finish. Outstanding.” 92-94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
