The Revivalist has a powerful bouquet of black cherry, milk chocolate and a touch of bay laurel. Bold flavours of blackberries and barrel toast are enveloped in a lush mouthfeel. Hardly lacking in structure, the wine is incredibly balanced with beautiful acidity and pronounced yet delicate tannins. Concentrated but with a clear verve, The Revivalist leaves an indelible mark.
Merlot Blocks: 200 Blocks (79%), 103 Block (17%), Petit Verdot Block: 105 Block (4%) Hand-picked, destemmed and whole berry sorted then gently crushed. Cold soaked, native fermentation and pumped over daily with a minimum 21 days on skins. Basket pressed with light pressing included in free run and drained directly to barrel. Racked and returned three times during maturation for 15 months, aged in fine-grain Bordeaux coopered barrels of which approximately 50% were new.
"Savoury, toasty, black olive and black fruit, with a little lemon zest and mint. It’s medium-bodied, roast beef and olives, something of a Campari tang, fine-grained tannin, redcurrant and blackberry on a slightly charry finish. The flavour profile is a little left-of-centre, but the wine is very good."
