Giant Steps Wombat Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

| /

Tiny bunches (40-50g) from a very low yielding vintage. Total production is 150 dozen. Rather than make Wombat Stew, Flammo opted for the techniques he used while working in the Cote de Brouilly. I’ve been using the word ‘frisky’ of late, perhaps a little too often, though this wine is absolutely definitely of the frisky kind.

It’s very spicy and perfumed, strawberry and raspberry, a peppered steak spread thing happening, and also, something a little like Turkish delight. Light in body, tight and sappy, red berries, perky and frisky, a fine dusting of soft tannin, pomegranate tang and white pepper on a nice long cool finish. It’s a light and feathery wine, but it lays the charm on heavy. Winefront Gary Walsh Rated : 94 Points Tasted : Feb21
