Region:
Yarra Valley
Grapes: Chardonnay
First Glance: Smoky, Citrus, Brine, Nutty
Acclaim: 97pts

The Wine:
Fruit was handpicked and whole bunch pressed straight to barrel by gravity with no settling, taking full lees. Fermented in 500L French Oak, 10% of which were new. Aged in barrel for 9 months, with 20% going through malolactic fermentation.

"Smoky and pungent, really gets up your nose! Lemon and crunchy nectarine lead the nose, with some apple, grapefruit, brown butter and hazelnut following. The palate has gentle tug and slippery texture. Glides and pulls with notes of lemon curd, stonefruit, salty oyster shell, green Sicilian olive and grilled nuts."

The Review:
Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion - 97pts
"Planted on a cool, south-facing slope in Tarrawarra. Whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in seasoned French puncheons and one ceramic egg. A vibrant green gold. Immediately appealing with its aromas of stone fruits, yellow apple, some lemon confiture and a touch of brine. Chalky textured, slippery and with a certain openness but finely detailed and structured too. Grapefruit pithy on the long, beautifully balanced finish."
