*Halliday Winery Of The Year 2025*
Region: Yarra Valley
Grapes: Pinot Noir
First Glance: Floral, Pretty, Graphite, Strawberry
Acclaim: 96pts
The Wine:
Handpicked, fermented in a combination of small oak and stainless steel vats. Each clone fermented and aged separately, and the ferments contained either 100% whole bunch, or 100% destemmed. The ferments spent 10-14 days on skins, and the resulting blend is about 15% whole bunch. Aged for 9 months in 20% new French oak barriques.
The Review:
Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion - 96pts
"From Lou Primavera's 2001-planted vineyard at Woori Yallock; 15% whole bunches and matured in French barriques (20% new). A light, bright crimson. Aromas of strawberry compote, tamarillo, sage and rose petals. A little reduction and graphite too. The palate is succulent and plush with silky tannins, making this the yummo, drink-now, single-vineyard wine from Giant Steps in '23."
