Fontodi’s owner-winemaker, Giovanni Manetti, has long considered Chianti Classico’s Lamole region special, and this wine proves him right. Fontodi's newest wine comes from his cousin's 7ha holdings in the cool zone of Lamole. The terraced vineyards sit at 600 metres above sea level on sandstone soil. Fermented in cement and aged in French oak casks.
‘The 2017 Chianti Classico Filetta di Lamole is absolutely gorgeous. In 2017, the Filetta di Lamole has a bit more body than usual because of the warmth of the year, and yet it retains its classic sense of energy and mid-weight structure. Crushed red berry, spice, mint, licorice and rose petal all open up in this super-expressive, inviting Chianti Classico. 2022-2032’
