The Wine:
Blue fruit, violets and a cool stone earthiness. There is a focused and savoury palate with seamless and ripe tannin. Aged in 30% new French hogsheads. This is a wine that will undoubtedly reward those with patience to cellar. The cooler vintages of Domenica continue to improve after ten or more years in bottle, and this wine will undoubtedly be one to enjoy over time.
The Review:
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front - 94pts
"Blueberry, blackcurrant, cracked pepper, dried flowers, liquorice, with a damp earthy thing happening too. It’s medium-bodied, cool blue and black fruits, a juiciness to acidity, which also comes over as quite ‘mineral’, fine-grained tannin, some coffee grounds and toasted hazelnut in the mix, with a supple finish of excellent length. Sophisticated wine with more than a little of a cool vintage Northern Rhône character here, via Beechworth. It’s quite autumnal, so to speak, but also very good."
