The Wine:
Sitting above Les Bonnes MaresLes Véroilles is the highest and coolest 1er Cru in Chambolle. Only a small part of this vineyard is 1er Cru (upgraded in 1987), and Ghislaine Barthod owns the entire parcel (0.37 hectares), making it a 1er Cru monopole. Some of the vines sit on bare rock, which—irrespective of vintage—explains the incredible minerality and freshness of this cuvée. Of course, the altitude and proximity to the forest also contribute to the wine’s wildly aromatic, juicy persona. The vines have an average age of 50 years and give a wine of tremendous finesse and purity.

The Review:
William Kelley, The Wine Advocate - 95pts
"The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Véroilles unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, plums and mulberries mingled with hints of licorice, spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, it's deep, layered and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, saline finish. As ever, this cuvée will require some patience."
