The Wine:
The Chatelots vineyard (2.96 hectares) is close to the town and partly adjoins Les Charmes. The topsoil is deeper and more alluvial, with plenty of small stones. This cuvée is always energetic and bright, bristling with energy. There’s lots of perfume, fleshy griotte cherry fruit, vibrant freshness and fine structure. Only the old, 80-year-old vines are used for this cuvée, with the younger vine material declassified to the Chambolle village wine. Vinified with 20% new oak, this is typically classic Chambolle: pretty, fine, perfumed.
The Review:
William Kelley, The Wine Advocate - 93+pts
"Bursting with notes of minty cherries, sweet berries and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and vibrant, with impressive concentration and tension."
