The Wine:
Roumier and Barthod are the major players in this small 1er Cru in the heart of Chambolle, just east of the village between the 1er Crus of Les Chatelots and Aux Beaux Bruns. Like Chatelots and Charmes, Aux Combottes is situated on the silt-rich alluvial fan of the Combe de Chambolle and is, therefore, more accessible when young compared to the more structured wines produced by Barthod in the Crus to the north of the village. Barthod farms 0.18 hectares, yielding just two barrels in a good year.
The Review:
Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy - 90-93pts
"This is a little lighter than Charmes with some strawberry notes, good acidity and persistence once again. Prettily perfumed, so typically Chambolle, but not a heavyweight."
