Region: Chablis, France
First Glance: Assertive and structured Chablis
Sebastien Christophe runs a small but high-quality operation, making wines from village and three select premier cru sites in Chablis. Vinification here is very typical for the region, with the vast majority of the wines raised in steel, with a small part of the premier cru juice seeing neutral oak, to impart a little bit of texture and breadth.
Mont de Milieu sits at the southern tip of the right-bank stretch of Premier Crus in Chablis. It is a smaller, compact terroir with an almost strictly south exposure, and often makes wines of higher concentration and riper fruit.
Due to frost, yields across the region in 2021 were some of the lowest in living memory, so naturally volumes are very limited. The quality of what made it through, however, was excellent.
