Region: Bourgogne, France
Grape: Pinot Noir
First Glance: Pure-fruited and generous Pinot
Domaine Marechal is a moderately sized producer based in Bligny les Beaune, in the the plain of Pommard, just south of Beaune. With a strong emphasis on vineyard work and a light hand in the cellar, these are wines of elegance and transparency. Yields are kept low, and no chemical fertilisers are used in the vines.
A blend coming from 3 different parcels in the village of Chorey, all from mature vines. An aromatic expression of Chorey, fresh but generous. As always here, no cultured yeasts are added, and the grapes are entirely destemmed before fermentation.
Tasting Note:
"This generous fruit forward vintage has again provided superb quality - seductive aromas, expansive and sweetly fruited in the mouth and with great dimension on the finish. Has density next to the sheer elegance of the Auxey Duresses and has the Allen Meadows “inner mouth perfume” in spades."
