"With the coming of twilight, the sky seemed to recede; the universe expanded. The night was bigger than the day, and in its realm, life seemed to have more possibilities" - Dean Koontz, "Midnight".
Sourced from Shiraz plantings dating back to 1947 on our Rayner Vineyard. Fermented using 100% whole bunches and wild yeast. 60 dozen bottles made.
“I suspect this is the Rayner Vineyard with a new name. Old vine plantings. The Kelly/Bondar home patch. Back label says 100% whole bunch.
A whole lotta spicy and dried flower perfume. Ginger biscuits, damp earthiness, blackberry and iodine. Medium-bodied, very purple flavour here, sticky but firm tannin, aniseed and cocoa nib, a saline character, a firm grainy feel to it, rich and spicy and saline, clod earth and peat, and a long coffee ground finish. Distinctive. Spicy and excellent, aniseed and dry spice. So nicely turned out.” 94Pts, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
