We are excited to introduce you to the second release of the very special ‘Bloody Hill' wines from Rivar Mayer Ferguson . For those of you who have not guessed Rivar is Timo Mayer’s son and this is his label . All the wines are made at the family winery on the “BLOODY HILL” and are all handpicked, spontaneously fermented dry, spend 6 months in seasoned hogsheads, where they undergo full malo and are bottled unfiltered. This is another set of delicious wines with great acidity , freshness and complexity as well as amazing Value . All wines from different ‘VILLAGES ’ in the Yarra Valley who have long term relationships with the Family.
"It’s a shiraz rose that gets barrel fermented. It’s kinda fancy. I didn’t see a Rivar Ferguson-Mayer rose from 2020 so this must be something new, perhaps.
Pale looking thing but with vibrancy in that rosy glint. Raspberries and light cream, vanilla whiffs, sage leaf. Things are happening in the palate, more creaminess, raspberry again, lighter than expected but with excellent glide and general sense of freshness. Please all comers style. Refreshing yet with texture and some depth."
