We are excited to introduce you to the second release of the very special ‘Bloody Hill' wines from Rivar Mayer Ferguson . For those of you who have not guessed Rivar is Timo Mayer’s son and this is his label . All the wines are made at the family winery on the “BLOODY HILL” and are all handpicked, spontaneously fermented dry, spend 6 months in seasoned hogsheads, where they undergo full malo and are bottled unfiltered. This is another set of delicious wines with great acidity , freshness and complexity as well as amazing Value . All wines from different ‘VILLAGES ’ in the Yarra Valley who have long term relationships with the Family.
"Rivar Ferguson-Mayer at the helm with fruit coming from the Yarra floor. Curious harvest season with a niggling rain period making things stop start a bit. Anyways, this is pleasing gear. Perfume kicks off with oatmeal and marzipan scents, some green apple, ripe lime and green pear too. Sloshy, pear and apple juice to taste, licks of nougat, cinnamon spice, some brioche and a fresh, limey finish. Lots of good energy here, plus interest and general sense of quality, whatever that might mean. It’s a very good wine."
