Gold capsule. 100% whole bunch. This is the wine where the vast majority of Faurie&apos s Le Méal fruit ends up (not that there is much of that-Faurie farms just 0.2 ha). As the name suggests, it is a blend of the vineyards Les Bessards and Le Méal. Le Méal is perhaps the Hill&apos s warmest site and produces it&apos s most hedonistic wine. In this blend, it brands the wine with a much more opulent, textured personality and tannic density, while the Bessards component fills in with mineral drive, structure and perfume. Bernard describes the wine as &apos an iron fist in a velvet glove&apos and he&apos s on the money. It&apos s very early days but here is an already majestic Hermitage, at once compact and structured, yet layered and perfumed, super long and poised, with the purity and harmony that is typical of Faurie. A great wine to remind us of what we will be losing when Faurie finally retires. Opaque ruby. A heady, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red fruits, Asian spices and potpourri, with deeper licorice and cola notes in the background. Stains the palate with vibrant red berry and floral flavors, which are given spine by a strong mineral element. Powerful but graceful as well, finishing on an emphatic mineral note, with impressive length. A gold capsule is always used to identify this wine. 93-95 points, Josh Raynolds,, March 2014
