The Wine
This is always a beautiful wine to make. Vibrant, fresh styling from a blend of vineyards that add complexity from soil rather than any winemaking artifact. It has bright and dark edges that interplay. Lifted cherry and campari, red/blue fruits and earthy aromas with a juicy, lively mouthfeel and firm tannin.
51 % Yarra Station Vineyard – Yarra Glen – Lower Yarra
These vines sit on a rolling, north facing slope of granite and grey clay soils that have ironstone running throughout.
44% - Primavera Vineyard – Woori Yallock– Upper Yarra
Located on an east facing slope on bright red volcanic soils capping a tabled ridge of basalt.
5% - Full Moon Vineyard – Gladysdale – Upper Yarra
18 year old vines are grown on chocolate coloured volcanic soils on a gentle west facing slope in Gladysdale. It’s a marginal subregion for grape growing but with careful vineyard management these vines have produced pristine and powerful fruit.
