The Wine

The most structural and savoury wine in the range, brooding in character with earth and briary characters dominating the palate.

The Single Vineyard Grenache collection has been seven years in the making. Aphelion began with Grenache. Their focus is Grenache. Their future is Grenache. Their original "Grenache project" has evolved.  Presenting three exceptional McLaren Vale Single Vineyard wines.

The Review

“From a parcel of dry-grown bush vines planted in the 1940s, fermented as whole clusters and aged in a single, larger-format cask. Very fragrant aromatics with sweet spices and almost flinty, dry-stony elements to the nose, together with wild raspberries, ripe red plums and sappy elements. Dried-rose and orange-zest notes, too. The palate has a very succulent feel with great length and tautness and a firmer, more intensely structured feel. More orange peel and blood orange here with red berries, too. Crunchy, almost peppery edge at the finish. Serious and delicious grenache here. Good now, but even better in a year or two.”  97 points | jamessuckling.com
